“Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime,” is a familiar slogan. A bait-and-casting session isn’t as glamorous or picturesque as a fishing expedition to some rushing mountain stream. But its impact may reach much farther. Likewise, teacher training hardly conjures up images of exciting jungle treks, packed evangelistic crusades, mass baptisms, thousands of children in Bible classes. More like harried airports, crowded classrooms, and chalk boards. But every local Christian leader trained to teach God’s Word more effectively will impact their community and nation for the rest of their lives. Our spring BCM World issue pays tribute to what truly is one of BCM’s most exciting ministries—training church and children’s ministry leaders around the world to reach their next generation—and through them, their nations—with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
