Overview

BCM in Suriname (located on the north-east coast of South America) began through youth work. In that youth ministry many were saved. One of those youth, in due time and after training, became involved in the ministry. That initial youth ministry grew into a local church, through which God has reached many and today is a center for learning and outreach.

Besides the regular activities of a church, our outreach seeks to engage every believer in some form of ministry. To that end there is a Correspondence course ministry (Basic Bible Course). There are Children’s clubs and a Handicapped ministry. Seminars are regularly held to concentrate on specific subjects. The camp ministry has become an essential outreach part of the work. To this end, the Lord provided a property some years ago which is still in development, but even now is being used widely by the Christian community for various purposes.

Youth ministry is continuing. There is the specific outreach to the Hindustani people. And recently, there is now also a Amerindian ministry developing to those in the interior.

Ministry Opportunities in Suriname

Director of Ministry to Teens and College & Career - Responsible for leading regular youth meetings and activities for teenagers and young adults (ages 21-29). Planning and leading camps, retreats, and seminars for teens and young adults. Pastoral ministries to the young people (eg: visitation, counseling, benevolence, administration, etc.), and miscellaneous other pastoral duties as they arise.

Director of Retreat Development - Development of the ministries that will be available at the camp property (eg: camping programs, retreats, seminars, local outreach, etc.). As the Lord leads we hope to have an outreach to the local area, which will lead to planting a church. This person would be key to that goal. Assist with the management of the property itself (eg: upkeep, repairs, grounds, etc.).

Director of Broadcast Ministry - Setting up the radio station (inc. equipment, management, programming, etc.), training personnel to run the radio station. BCM Suriname presently has the necessary equipment, frequency, etc. and the license is pending.

Facilities Director - Assist with the management of mission property (maintenance, grounds, construction/renovation, set-up, vehicles, etc.)
