BCM LEADS Event — Sri Lanka

“Come and let us build… that we may no longer be a reproach” – Nehemiah 2:17b
As I write this I am returning from a four-day BCM leadership meeting held in Pussellawa, Sri Lanka. We have had three of these events since the first one was held in Poland immediately following the 2007 BCM European Conference in Poland. LEADS events are designed to enrich, assess, and develop servant skills in our leadership.
This event was special for several reasons. Firstly, it was held in our rural BCM church in Pussellawa, Sri Lanka. This is the location of the beginning of church planting in Sri Lanka. Secondly, we had 19 BCM leaders from around Asia gathered together in one place to discuss BCM ministry in Asia and equip further ministry efforts. We spent time reflecting on the 13 core ministry values of BCM and how to improve our spiritual leadership skills, learned about the three main religion groups of Asia and how to befriend them with the Gospel, and discussed how to further improve our accountability as missionaries and leaders.
The final result of our time together was documented in the Pussellawa Proclamation, affirming and/or reaffirming our commitment, with the help of God’s Holy Spirit, to continued action in a dozen specific areas of ministry.
Blessings,
Marty
